Project Description

The term of intrapreneurship was firstly introduced by Steve Jobs in 1985 and, since then, is continuously gaining traction and importance as the entrepreneurial mindset is increasingly needed within companies and corporations as much as outside to set new vision, disrupt ways of doing things, anticipate change, and solve problems that will better business culture. Intrapreneurship can be defined as the process by which individuals who have entrepreneurial traits work for companies and entrepreneurs. Intrapreneurs are unlike normal employees who simply function in a role, intrapreneurs contribute to the bigger picture and they are business minded. Intrapreneurs are responsible for introducing ideas, inspiring creativity, leading and motivating those around them. They take proactive steps to improve business operations and they ensure the business meets targets to produce great results.

Moreover, despite the essential for SME development, relevant data confirm the lack of initiatives for training and developing employers’ and employees’ skills, which hinders employees’ development (up/reskilling) and the organizational growth of SMEs. Within OECD countries, SMEs’ employees participate in formal training activities to only 50% of the extent that employees in larger companies do. One of the main reasons for this lack of participation in training is the relevant high cost. However, SMEs can promote the development of intrapreneurial skills and innovation through in-company projects. Within this framework, SEAL project will motivate SMEs to strategically plan training opportunities for fostering the development of their employees’ intrapreneurial skills through an innovative and interactive training curriculum and training course.

SEAL’s main objective is to provide innovative solutions to SMEs and VET organizations / trainers for assessing and developing employees’ intrapreneurial skills and mindsets.
